However, this method will not filter dirt from the water, and so, one may need to start from filtration them boiling. Boil the water for enough time to kill all the germs and them store in clean and covered containers.

Chlorine is the common commercially used water disinfectant. It not only kills microorganisms but also clears the water through its bleaching capability. If your tap water is direct from a borehole, you can use chlorine in a tank before it reaches the house to make sure it is both clean and safe for use. While using chlorine, take care as too much can be harmful to the body if used for long. On the other hand, too little may be ineffective.
